Privacy policy

Keel is an uptime monitoring service. This page explains what data we hold, why we hold it, and what you can do about it. It is short on purpose: if a data practice isn't listed here, we don't do it.

Who we are

Keel is operated independently by its founder. There is no registered company address behind this service — one person runs it, and that person is the data controller for everything described below. Questions go to vixiethemoose@gmail.com.

What we collect, and why

• Your email address — to identify your account and let you sign in.
• A hash of your password — never the password itself. It is used only to verify you at sign-in.
• The URLs you monitor — the addresses Keel checks on your behalf. Without them the service does nothing.
• Check results — the outcome, timing and response details of each check Keel runs against your monitors. These produce your uptime history and incident records.
• Webhook channel URLs — where you tell Keel to send alerts. Keel posts to them when an incident opens or resolves; it does not read anything back from them.

That is the full list. Keel does not ask for your name, company, billing address or phone number.

Where it is stored

All account and monitoring data is stored in the EU region. Checks against your monitored URLs originate from cloud infrastructure, not from a private server rack.

How long we keep it

• Check results and incidents: 30 days. Older results are deleted; your uptime history beyond that window does not exist.
• Account data (email, password hash, monitors, webhook URLs): until you delete it. Deleting your account or an individual monitor removes the associated data — we keep nothing in cold storage.

Cookies

Keel sets one cookie: a session cookie that keeps you signed in. It contains no advertising identifiers and is used for nothing else. There are no cookie banners because there is nothing to consent to.

No trackers, no ads, no selling

Keel runs no third-party analytics, no tracking pixels and no advertising scripts, and it does not load any third-party assets beyond its own stylesheet. We do not sell, rent or share your data with anyone, and we do not build profiles about you. Your monitor data is used to run your monitors — that is the entire commercial use of it.

Payments

Keel's paid plan is not yet live. If and when payments launch, they will be processed by Creem as merchant of record, meaning your payment details go to Creem and never touch Keel's systems. This page will be updated if that changes anything about the data described above.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data (export) or ask for it to be deleted. Both are handled on request — email vixiethemoose@gmail.com from the address on your account and state what you want. Export requests are answered with your data in a readable form; deletion requests remove your account and its monitors. Check results already past their 30-day retention are gone before you can ask.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the change will be noted on this page. It will not quietly grow a paragraph about "trusted partners".
